We need common sense

I remember back when I was a kid, I had made a mistake in something that I had worked on for school and did not get the grade that I should have gotten. It was a simple common-sense adjustment I needed to make to have gotten the best grade. I still to this day remember my dad telling me “Son use your common-sense. Your smarter than that.” That has stuck with me for a very long time and always will. Common-sense is something that we all have, but something we forget because we forget how to do certain things if we have trouble or if there is a stressful situation. We tend to lean without it sometimes if we are in a rush as well. It is something that we cannot forget no matter the situation when we are going through.

I get a sense that there are some reporters today that they do not use there common-sense with their reporting as well. I look at all of the reporting that is going on with our world and I do see the things that reporters used to do back in the day. I feel like and I get the sense that reporters are just going to add information that suits them best and does not do the job that need to inform the audience that is reading it. They are not looking at the full details that are in on the writings they post, and I feel like people are always going to miss out on trying to expand the knowledge of the audience. It is what they want to see happen and they want to continue to look more into what is being reported to them. Without it, no one is going to want to continue to follow the reporter and the audience will continue to lose their attention to the news as well.

Reporters need to get back to attention to detail. They need to remember that they are looking to expand the knowledge of others and that the information they give is going to be vital in them being able to know what is truly right and what is going on in the world today. They need to know that they cannot just post things to show that they did their jobs. Reporters need to go back to putting out all of the details that are needed to show that they have been investigating the situation that is being looked at. The knowledge they have is key for them to helping the audience to know whether they need to adjust their plans or not. They need to remember that the audience is smart, and they have some knowledge as well to what is going on. Know that putting everything in all of your reporting will show what is great about you as a journalist.
